1st to Oppose a State Income Tax
Duane was the first candidate to say that as treasurer, he would not support a state income tax. Our current treasurer has used the office to push for the new tax.
“The treasurer’s job is to administer the state’s finances, not to determine how those funds are raised. Decisions like that are best left to the voters. As your State Treasurer I will not support any political agenda” said Davidson.
We currently have the highest budget in state history. We need to use the funds we already have available more wisely, not push for a state income tax.
1st in the Primary Election
It was a crowded ballot in the primary, as Duane faced four opponents; three Democrats and a Republican. Thanks to the overwhelming support he received from his fellow county treasurers, Republican leaders, and voters across the state, Duane won the primary election for an office not held by a Republican in more than 60 years, earning his spot at the top of the general election ballot.
Our Secretary of State Kim Wyman is currently the only Republican holding a statewide office on the west coast. That needs to change. Kim won the election in 2012 with a grassroots campaign, meeting voters statewide with her message of conservative values, and urging Washington Republicans to get out and vote.
Duane Davidson has the same idea. Sign up here to receive campaign updates, and see when Duane will be in your area.
1st in Endorsements
Duane has the experience we need in the State Treasurer’s office
He is a licensed CPA and has been the Benton County Treasurer since 2003. He was reelected to his fourth term in 2014. Duane is also currently serving his second term as President for the Washington State Association of County Treasurers (WSACT) and previously served as Treasurer for that organization. He also served on the Audit, Legislative and Website committees as well as being the historian/archivist for WSACT.
He is endorsed by every Republican and Democrat County Treasurer in the state.
Republican leaders like Secretary of State Kim Wyman, Senate Majority Leader Mark Schoesler, and House Floor Leader JT Wilcox also endorse Duane for Treasurer.
